Hi Derrick,
The Jap Blue gene is persistent and will appear even in later batches of fries. My Galaxies however for some lines did manage to breed true for 1 or 2 generations after which the peculiar Jap blue male will appear the following batch. I kind of like the Jap blues that appear though and they breed true too if you decide to do so. The gene being dominant will ensure that there will be no Galaxies appearing in a Jap blue male inbred with another Jap blue female.

You are right that jap blues are very dominant in the male. I also did a cross to my Tanaka Jap plat. yellow round tail and I got 1/2 jap blue and 1/2 plat yellow tail! Looks bad and I culled the whole batch. I was expecting that the platinum would be dominant over the Jap blue but we found our answers through our breeding!
